During the months of November and December, Seafarers’ House hopes to hand out 3000 wrapped shoeboxes filled with socks, toiletries, and holiday cheer to the seafarers who come from all over the world into our Port Everglades. They are all so very far away from home and family during the holidays and these small gifts mean so much!
And we need your help starting right NOW to prepare!
These are the STANDARD items we want to include in each wrapped shoe box. New items only, please!

4. Deodorant
5. Disposable razors
6. Shampoo
7. Shaving Cream
8. Soap/ Shower Gel
9. Tooth Brushes
10. Toothpaste
11. Pencils/ pens/
pencil sharpeners
12. Work gloves
HOW CAN I HELP?
Drives- Organize a drive at your workplace, school, church or club to collect some of the needed items on our SHOPPING LIST - then drop them off at Seafarers’ House for other volunteers to sort & pack into decorated shoeboxes.
OR Make a monetary donation! 100% of your donation will go towards needed items for the shoebox delivery or the purchase of phone cards (at a special discount) to include inside every shoebox. The importance of that phone call home to loved ones at Christmas cannot be overstated!
Shoebox Wrappers This is a great group OR individual project that’s fun! Start by collecting clean standard sized ( approx. 11” X 7”) ADULT SHOE BOXES from local shoe stores. Wrap or paint and decorate the box and the lid separately so that the lid can be removed for security inspections.
Complete Boxes Collect all of the items on our SHOPPING LIST and fill your own decorated shoeboxes! Just remember we need to keep all shoeboxes “equally wonderful” therefore please include all the listed standard items and do not overfill. Fill one shoebox and wrap it up…or organize a whole drive!
