Our pastoral care team includes 18 chaplains representing faiths from all over the world working together to provide counseling, assistance and spiritual resources. Everyone is welcome to speak with a chaplain at their convenience, either at our casa or aboard their vessel.
PASTORAL COUNSELING AND ASSISTANCE
Listening to seafarers is one of the greatest gifts we offer. Our staff, employees and volunteers alike are encouraged to converse with visiting mariners. A welcoming and positive attitude communicates a lot to a stranger. Our ‘ministry of presence’ provides willing hearts and listening ears, doing much to mitigate stress, worry, loneliness and the anxiety of long-term separation from loved ones, often defusing difficult situations by providing helpful tools for discussion and reflection.
Our pastoral care team provides confidential individual pastoral counseling and assistance to mariners of all different faiths. Whether a mariner is looking for spiritual guidance, fellowship or emotional support, our pastoral care team is here to help. Our team visits with thousands of mariners each year, providing compassion, guidance and resources for self-reflection. If our team is unable to fill a spiritual request in-house, we are affiliated with chaplaincies throughout South Florida to provide mariners with access to a religious leader of their own choosing.
We hold regular religious services at our center for a variety of faiths. Please consult our prayer service schedule for dates and times.
We provide religious resources such as Bibles, devotional booklets, and other religious periodicals in various languages, as well as an array of supportive materials for addressing specific concerns, which are distributed free of charge.
Some Christian congregations earmark their support for the purchase of Bibles in dozens of languages. Others help us purchase a variety of religious literature, like the ever-popular daily devotion booklets available in both English and Spanish editions. This wonderful free service enables seafarers with little time in port to take items to sea for future reflection and meditation during their free time on board.
