RELIGIOUS MATERIALS
Bibles, devotional booklets, and other religious periodicals in various languages as well as numerous counseling materials which are distributed at no charge. Contributions and grants from the American Bible Society; The Gideon's International; Naval, Military, and Air Force Bible Society help Seafarers' House make the giveaway of Bibles and other religious periodicals possible.
Some Christian congregations earmark their support for the purchase of Bibles in dozens of languages. Others help us purchase a variety of religious literature, like the ever popular daily devotion booklets available in both English and Spanish editions. This wonderful free service enables seafarers with little time in port to take items to sea for future reflection and meditation during their free time on board.
Additionally, the store sells religious items which have been specifically requested by seafarers, such as Spanish/English religious videos, Christian music, reference Bibles, and religious books.

COUNSELING
Listening to seafarers is one of the greatest gifts we offer. Our staff, employees and volunteers alike are encourage to converse with visiting mariners - even if we do not completely understand them. A welcoming and positive attitude communicates a lot to a stranger.
A smile or friendly gesture establishes an immediate rapport, and once mariners feel at ease, they are more likely to trust us with confidential matters. Seafarers are most grateful for the time we take to listen, and enthusiastically return on their next trip feeling part of our family.
